MagyarOK Grammar in Action Workshop – From Grammar to Active Language Use

Do you know many Hungarian grammar rules, but still feel unsure when you have to use them while speaking?

The MagyarOK Grammar Workshop is an online, small-group mini-course where we don't just understand and practise a specific grammar topic – we also put it into active use in speaking.

We approach grammar from the perspective of its communicative function: we explore not only how a particular grammatical form works, but also when, why and in what kind of speaking situations it can be used.

Because the goal is not simply to know the rule – but to recognise when you need it and retrieve it when you speak Hungarian.

How does it work?

Each session focuses on a specific grammar topic. We explore the grammatical form through clear examples and real-life communication situations.

We don't only ask how a grammatical form works, but also what communicative purpose it serves and when it is used in Hungarian.

We then gradually move on to practice: you first use the new grammatical form in guided exercises and then increasingly independently.

The focus is ultimately on speaking: you use the grammar in communication situations where you would genuinely need it.

In this way, grammatical knowledge does not remain passive knowledge – it becomes active and is integrated into your own speaking.

How is it different from a traditional grammar class?

• the goal is not to memorise rules, but to use them actively

• we approach grammar from the perspective of its communicative function

• you learn when and for what communicative purpose you can use a particular grammatical form

• each session focuses on a specific grammar topic or difficulty

• we explore grammar through examples and communication situations

• guided practice gradually leads to independent speaking

• targeted grammar practice helps you retrieve and use the appropriate forms more easily while speaking

The goal is not to be able to list more grammar rules, but to understand what grammatical forms are used for and to apply them more confidently and accurately when speaking.

Each Grammar Workshop session is an independent mini-course. You don't have to commit to a multi-week course – you can register for each session separately.

Every week, a different grammar topic is offered, so you can decide which area you would like to understand better, practise and activate in your speaking.

Choose according to:

• language level, according to the level announced for each session

This way, you can always choose a session that matches your current learning goals and interests.

The MagyarOK Grammar Workshop can be a great complement to your private Hungarian lessons or other Hungarian language courses.

If you already have a private teacher or attend another Hungarian course, the Grammar Workshop gives you the opportunity to focus on a specific grammar topic, understand its communicative function, and then practise using it actively in speaking.

It can therefore be a valuable addition to your regular language learning: whatever you have learned or understood in your regular lessons, you can put into active use and practise in communication here.

You don't have to choose between your existing lessons and the Grammar Workshop – they can work together to support your progress.

This way, you can always choose the workshop that matches your interests and current learning goals – without having to commit to a longer course.
